Obituary

Ruth Langley, 83, of Pensacola died Monday, August 27, 2012. She was born a twin in Sewanee, TN. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in Nashville and entered St. Thomas School of Nursing in 1948. She graduated and was licensed to practice as a registered nurse in 1952. Her experience in Tennessee included office nursing, hospital supervisory and industrial nursing and private duty. She came to Pensacola and in the fall of 1958 joined the nursing staff of Sacred Heart Hospital. In 1960 she began working at St. Regis Paper Mill and spent the remainder of her nursing career there, retiring after 30 years of service. She spent many years active in the Pensacola Rose Society. Later her interests were in raising championship bulldogs. She is predeceased by her husband, Howard, and son, Edward. She is survived by three children, Denise, Robert, John (Kerry) all of Pensacola; four grandchildren, Pam, Richard, Kirsten and Shaun; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Perry of CA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Pastor Rob Looper of McIlwain Presbyterian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McIlwain Presbyterian Church, 1220 East Blount Street, Pensacola, FL 32503, or a charity of choice. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
