Ruth Wise
Stewart
October 15, 1931 – February 6, 2024
Ruth Stewart, 92, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
Ruth was born on October 15, 1931, in Jay FL to Frank and Mary Wise. After graduation from Jay High School, she attended Business college in Montgomery, AL. She worked for a short time as a secretary for a local law firm. That work she hated and after taking the Civil Service exam began a long association with the US Navy. She started at what was then Pre-Flight at Bldg. 633 and completed her service at Corry Station. That was not the end of the Navy, for she married Ramsey "Stew" Stewart in 1962 and through Stew, a former Naval Aviator she became a member of the Association of Naval Aviation and the National Naval Aviation Museum. In addition, she was a member of the Pensacola Symphony Guild, a long-time volunteer at West Florida Hospital, USO, and Poll worker. Ruth was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stew, who she also called "My Dear Friend"; her brothers, Ray and Aubrey Wise; as well as her sister, Doris Martin.
She is survived by her nephews, Lavoid "AL" Wise and Doyle Wise; nieces, Carol Rudd and Gail True; her grandnephews, Trip Wise, Robb Rudd, and Jeff Rudd; as well as her grandniece, Michelle Rudd.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Robert Quiring officiating. A private family committal will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
