Obituary

Harold "Sam" Hutto, Jr., 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Gulf Breeze, FL.

Sam was born on October 14, 1946, in Gulfport, MS, to the late Harold Sam Hutto, Sr. and Annie Mae Hutto. He pursued higher education at The University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned an undergraduate degree and became a Certified Public Accountant. Sam began his career at Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund in Pensacola, FL. In 1986, he took a bold step by opening his own firm. His dedication and expertise in the field led to a successful career that culminated in the merger of his firm with Warren Averett, after which he retired. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sam proudly served in the US Army while stationed in Germany. He had a deep love for fishing and boating and was an avid supporter of both the New Orleans Saints and Mississippi State football teams. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his grandsons.

Sam is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Hutto; daughters, Lindsey Hutto and Lauren Holston (Tyler); grandchildren, Reid Hutto and Liam and Harrison Holston; his sister, Martha Faye Smylie; nephews, Jason and Brad Smylie, Sonny and Shannon MacArthur; as well as a niece, Ashley Hutchison.

Sam will be deeply missed by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until a Memorial Service to celebrate his life begins at 11:00am Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Msgr. Luke Hunt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society Donate Here or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Syed Jafri, MD, for all of his support and guidance throughout this journey.
