Samuel J.D Rice was born in Albany, New York, on January 23rd, 1954. Aged at 68, Sam passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022, due to a short battle with Leukemia.

​Sam married Carrie Rice on December 15th, 2017. During their marriage, Carrie brought newfound happiness to Sams's life. In their time, Carrie helped Sam grow as a person. Their relationship shed light on his other passions besides work. Sam's personal growth led to many great adventures and joyful memories with his family.​

Including his wife, Sam's departure left behind four loving children, Abigail Russell, Isabella Rice, Gabriella Rice, and Jonothan Hochstatter.

With his passions being entrepreneurship and socializing, Sam had a friend wherever he went. Sam proudly was a jack-of-all-trades, having ownership of several businesses. Some include a cell phone store, grocery store, and multiple restaurants.​

Family and friends will remember Sam for his humor, love of cooking and animals, and competitive spirit (especially on family game nights.)

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1:00 pm until the funeral service begins at 2:00 pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
