IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Ray
Devoy
April 8, 1942 – February 23, 2021
Sandra Ray Devoy, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
Sandra was born on April 8, 1942 to Raymond and Frances Watts in Lampasas, TX. It was there at the age of 15 she met the love of her life, Bernard "Jerry" Devoy. Together they traveled the globe with the USAF all while raising a family along the way.
She was involved with the NCO wives club, a standout bowler, an absolute homemaker extraordinaire and a gourmet cook. While stationed in Japan there were no dog groomers so she studied, purchased the equipment and practiced on her three poodles until she mastered her craft, she soon opened Sandi's Poodle Parlor. People came from surrounding bases to have their pooches pampered!
After retiring from the Air Force Jerry took a job in Amherst, VA with Contel telephone systems but returned to NW Florida in 1991, where together they were in full blown retirement mode. They purchased a ranch in Crestview and raised a menagerie of animals; domesticated as well as wild.
Her legacy will be her love for her husband, children, grandchildren and her furry companions.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Frances Howard Watts and Raymond Watts; husband of 60 years, Bernard "Jerry" Devoy; son, Craig Devoy; daughter Laura Devoy and brother, James W. Watts.
She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Sansom (Randy) of Gulf Breeze, FL; son, Douglas Devoy (Patti) of Defuniak Springs, FL; grandchildren, Allan Sansom (Lindsay) of Orlando, FL, Troy Devoy of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sandi Thomas (Ben) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Whitney Sansom (Blake) of Pensacola, FL, Taylor Simmons (Shanks) of Pensacola, FL, Ashley Cain (Trevor) of Richmond, VA and 12 great grandbabies. She is also survived by long time friends, James and Scarlett Fisher of Baltimore, MD and her former co-workers from the old Perris Italian restaurant in Ft. Walton Beach.
A visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 pm Friday, March 5, 2021 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Graveside service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Allan Sansom, Ben Thomas, Troy Devoy, V. Shanks Simmons, Blake Ruiz and Michael Burns.
