Sandra Jean Ward, 71, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 after a brief illness.

Sandra was born in Orlando, FL on February 24, 1945 to Kenneth F. Garrison and Margaret O. Garrison. Since her father was in the U. S. Air Force she lived and traveled to many locations including, Arizona, Puerto Rico and Japan before coming to Eglin AFB in Ft. Walton Beach, FL in 1962.

Sandra graduated Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Class of 1963. She went on to graduate Pensacola Junior College, Class of 1965 and University of West Florida, Class of 1984.

In 1965 she married her husband of 51 years, Jerald.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Timothy J. Ward (Theresa) of Pensacola, FL and Jerald C. Ward of Pace, FL; three grandchildren, Alexia Marie, Danielle Serria and Gavin Andrew; one sister, Lori Yarbrough (Mike) of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Kenneth O. Garrison and Craig F. Garrison, both of Valparaiso, FL.

Sandra worked at University of West Florida, Pensacola YWCA, Pensacola Junior College and Escambia County School District before retiring in 2007. She was in the LEAP Class of 1990; a member of Liberty Sertoma; a member of Pensacola Women's Alliance; YWCA Board of Directors and its Executive Director; the Pensacola Humane Society, both as a Board Member and President.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10am with Funeral services beginning at 11am from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

Private Graveside services for the family will be at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pensacola Humane Society or to a pet shelter of your choice; or to the American Lung Association.
