Gary "Sandy" Sandiford Spivey ,74, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Sandy was born on August 3, 1948, and grew up in Warrington of Pensacola, FL. His professional career spanned decades of achievements. He was a professional musician and teacher that has impacted hundreds to even thousands of people. His career started as a young teenager playing in his dad's band, "The Krazy Kats". He then joined the US Air Force during the Vietnam War Era. He played in the highly respected Air Force band until he was discharged. After being discharged home, Sandy started his career as a professional musician and teacher. That would span the rest of his life. Along the way he made many friendships that would last a lifetime.
Sandy was a loving and highly devoted father and spent his days supporting his children in all of their respected sports and activities. He never missed a school play, sports game, concert, or cheerleading competition. He also enjoyed fishing on the pier with his son any chance he got. When he became a grandfather, he continued his unwavering support by attending soccer games and baseball games. He never missed a birthday or holiday. His children, grandchildren, and family were his motivation for his life-long hard work and his will and strength to battle Parkinson's Disease. He was a hero to his children and grandchildren.
Sandy is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Spivey; father, Ray Spivey; and brother, Jerry Spivey.
He is survived by his partner, Barbara Lewis; children, Claire Gregson (Steven), Samuel Spivey, and Abigail Spivey (Kylie), and their mother, Juliette Spivey; grandchildren, Ella (14), Tucker (10), Layneigh (8), and Saydee (7); sister, Lisa Wehner; brother, Greg Spivey and many nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
Visitation will be held 1:00pm until the Memorial Service to begin at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Live Stream Service link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8Id7Shw8Eg
