Sara Emiley Gordon, 32, of Pensacola passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021. She was born in Fort Knox, KY on June 28, 1988 to Emma Dennison and Robert Dickson.
In 2016 Sara married Scott Gordon in Tallahassee, FL. They had two sons, Skyler (2018) and Shiloh (2021). In 2017, Sara began working at Pensacola Catholic High School. She was the music teacher, band director, drama club director, and coached girl's JV soccer for a year. Before teaching at Catholic High, she taught at St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Tallahassee, FL. During her time at St. JPII she served as the band director, drama club director, technology director, started the drumline, head cross country coach, and assistant girls soccer coach.
Sara graduated from Port Charlotte High School in 2006. She went on to University of Western Carolina on a full scholarship to run Cross Country and Track and Field in 2006. In 2007, Sara transferred to Florida State University to pursue her degree in music. Sara was a member of the Marching Chiefs for one year, walked on to the Track and Field team for one year, and was highly involved with CCF on campus. She graduated from FSU in 2010.
Sara loved being a wife and mom, while her time with them was cut short, she provided her husband and two boys with so much love. Sara brought joy to everything she touched, from school functions to spending time with family and friends. She was always encouraging to those she encountered and in returned was loved by many. Sara loved music, she played multiple instruments and enjoyed using her gift and knowledge to teach students.
Sara is survived by her husband, Scott Gordon; son's Skyler and Shiloh Gordon; mother, Emma Dennison; father, Robert Dickson; step-mother, Marjorie Dickson; brother, Paul Dickson, brother, Michael Dickson; sister, Rebecca Dickson; grandmother, Erla Dennison; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial Mass will be held 11:00am Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1212 E. Moreno St., Pensacola, FL 32503, with Fr. Tim Holeda celebrant.
