Sarah Howarth Hayes, 88, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
Mrs. Hayes was born in Burlington, NJ and has lived in Pensacola for most of her life. Sarah loved her family fiercely. She was a life-long member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, serving over 20 years as the church secretary. Last but not least, she loved the game of tennis along with her teammates. She was affectionately known as "The Queen of Roger Scott Tennis Courts", playing until the age of 85.
She is preceded in death by her son, William B. Hayes, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, William B. Hayes; her daughters, Jane Hayes DeStafney (Bobby) and Karen Hayes Morgan (David); her grandchildren, Courtney, Hunter, Amanda, and Elizabeth; her great-grandchildren, Amelia Kate, Mac, Harry, Hayes, Avery, Hunter, Ellie, and Bryant; her sisters, Mary Howarth Bond and Pauline Howarth Scruggs; as well as her sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Bridges.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00am Saturday, October 9, 2021, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, with The Reverend Susan Sowers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church or to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola.
