Obituary

Sarah U. Little, 78, of Santa Rosa Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Sarah was born in Pensacola, FL on February 28, 1938 to Clark Winters Upp and Lucy Johnson Upp. Sarah lived in several parts of the Florida Panhandle but called Gainesville, FL her home. Sarah grew up on the golf course while winning her first golf tournament at age 7 in the Junior Coca-Cola Golf Tournament in 1945. She was a member of the Pensacola Country Club Ladies Golf Association.

She finished her senior year of high school in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba while living with her parents, but received her diploma from Clearwater High School in 1956. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority at Florida State University in 1956–1957. Sarah loved Seminole Football especially the Florida vs. Florida State rivalry.

Sarah had a wonderful entrepreneurial spirit that allowed her to be employed by Donigan's in Gainesville, FL where she would travel to New York as a merchandiser. She co-owned and operated Sarah Ann's Beach Store in Mexico Beach, FL and Shuckum's Oyster Pub in Gainesville, FL.
Sarah's passions in life also included being a very talented artist and would spend hours in front of her easel using pastel chalks and pencils and transitioned into being extremely talented with oil and acrylics with an emphasis on wildlife. Sarah's pure joy and talent in the visual arts allowed her to have original pieces of art hanging on several friends and families walls for years to come. She never wanted to sell her art; she enjoyed sharing her art as a gift.

Sarah was an avid outdoor enthusiast that included hunting, fishing, boating and bird watching.  She also enjoyed "fast walks" along the gulf coast sands of Beacon Bluff where she spent a lot of time and many holidays with her family and longtime friend and companion, Chi Omega sister, Ann MacKinnon. Her love of nature extended to all of God's creatures specifically her dogs; who she considered part of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark Winters and Lucy Johnson Upp; a brother, Clark "Jimmy" Upp and an infant daughter, Lucy Geise Little.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul D. Little, Sr.; sons, Paul D. Little, Jr. and Christopher Blake Little all of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; granddaughters, Brittany Marte Little and Danielle Megan Little Chewning.
