Sarah Susan Gunn Smith, 82, a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away in her home on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Sarah Susan is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kirby Conrad Smith; her brothers, John Gunn of Virginia (Charlotte) and Cuyler Gunn of Georgia (Marion); sister-in-law, Mary Alice Gunn; her daughters, Susan Noland (Edwin), Marie Smith, Cary McMillan (Jim); her grandchildren. Alice Hickman Smith (Robert), Erin Hickman Hansen (Todd), Edwin Noland, Sean Harris, Kirby Thornton (Amy), Sarah Noland, Wesley Thornton Breal (Justin), Taylor Thornton; her great-grandchildren, Katelyn Hansen, Jackson Smith, Anna Ryan Hansen, Hunter Hansen, and Ashton Breal. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Gladys Gunn, and her brother, Allen Gunn. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and later graduated with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics from the University of Alabama. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and participated in a number of charities. Visitation will be held in the parlor at First Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 9:00am with a memorial service in Stakely Sanctuary to follow at 10:00am Graveside Service will be held at 9:30am Friday, August 9, 2013 at St. Johns Cemetery in Pensacola, FL. Pallbearers are John Gait, Edwin Noland Ill, Todd Hansen, Sean Harris, Edwin Noland iv, and Taylor Thornton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Ministries of First Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL.
