Obituary

Severin Winter Grenoble, a cherished resident of Pensacola, FL, departed this world on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the age of 45. Born on October 20, 1978, in New Orleans, LA, Severin proudly identified with his roots in the vibrant city he fondly called home. The beloved only child of Janet Stites Shaw and Arthur Bultmann Grenoble, Severin brought immense joy and warmth to the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

Severin's journey began in Olympia, WA, with subsequent stops in Alabama before ultimately finding comfort in Pensacola, where he spent the last five years of his life. Throughout his academic pursuits, Severin earned multiple prestigious awards, such as the Chief Resident Award, Resident Teacher Award in multiple years, Phi Beta Kappa Honors Award, among many others. His successful career in psychiatry saw him making a profound impact in outpatient child and adolescent care, addiction medicine, general psychiatry, with his fondest moments spent with the geriatric group. Severin's early love for the arts manifested in his musical pursuits, playing the violin in the Lincoln Elementary School Orchestra. An accomplished sports enthusiast, he found joy in activities such as baseball, swimming, diving, running, and snowboarding, excelling in each endeavor.

His love for music extended to attending concerts, where he sought solace in the performances of his favorite bands, including Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, and the Killers. His eclectic taste reflected a vibrant spirit and a deep appreciation for various art forms.

Severin's affinity for animals was evident throughout his life, from his childhood companions the rabbit hound named Pogo, the cat named Dandy to the beloved cat Mintzy, Shula the greyhound, Velcro cat, and Ryker, another greyhound in his later years. His home, which he shared with his girlfriend Ana of nine years and Marcelo, was a haven for furry friends, a reflection of his kind and nurturing soul.
