Sharon Reid Halford, age 82, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, after an extended illness.

She was born on October 14, 1943, in Nashville, TN to Jim and Lerah Reid. Sharon attended Nathan Bedford Forrest High School in Jacksonville, FL, graduating with the class of 1961. In 1962, she married her high school sweetheart Douglas C. Halford. Their marriage lasted 25 years and produced one child, a daughter, born in 1971 in Tampa, FL. Some of Sharon’s favorite things to do were helping people and volunteering at local museums in Pensacola and the surrounding areas. She was a stay-at-home mom for 15 years until 1986 when she and a friend opened a gift shop “Rumor Has it” in the Hilton Hotel in downtown Pensacola. A second location for Rumor Has It opened in a more residential area close to the Cordova Park community of Pensacola. Both locations closed within 5-10 years. Sharon then worked with the Pensacola Sports Association as an event planner/organizer, and then again as an event planner/organizer with Pensacola State College Foundation, from which she retired in 2017 after 12 years of faithful service to the community. In 2004, Sharon met Donald Posey and their relationship lasted until the day she passed. In 2022, Don became Mom’s full-time caregiver due to loss of independence from her illness and the progression of her symptoms. Prior to her illness, she loved cooking, entertaining, and spending time at home with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lerah Reid and her brother, Roy.

Sherry is survived by her partner and caregiver, Don Posey; her daughter, Erin Cripple (Charles); and her granddaughter, Maryreid Elisabeth Martin. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, and she loved them all right back.

No services are scheduled at this time. A gathering will be held at a later date and time to be determined by her family.
