Shirley departed this life for a better place on Thursday, December 2, 2010. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas P. and Lillian J. Harris Crosby; brother, Thomas A. Crosby and daughter, Meghann Renee Kearley. Shirley was a native and life-long resident of Pensacola, born December 16, 1940. She devoted her life to her children and family. She was an artist and an early-childhood educator, having been a certified teacher-aide and worked as a VISTA volunteer and with the Title I and Head Start Programs. Shirley leaves behind her husband, David H. Kearley; children, Curtis J. Vann, Jr. (Kathy), Jessie Vann Stubbs (Jim), Jimmy Vann, Mickey Vann (Scott), Jennifer Kearley Black (Matt) and Aimee M. Kearley (Chris); grandsons, Trey Vann (Angie), Brett Vann, Tyler Kearley, Reid Black, and Tegan Hunter; sisters, Anna E. Scruggs (Carl) and Jessie L. Quigley. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial Service will be held 11:30am Friday, December 3, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Fr. James Valenzuela officiating. Private family burial will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
