Obituary

Starlon Ray Moorman, Jr., "Cowboy", a beloved son, brother, father, and papaw, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the age of 67.

Born on February 14, 1957, in Memphis, TN, Starlon grew up in Pascagoula, MS before making Pensacola, FL his home. He attended Woodham High and graduated from Pensacola Junior College.

Starlon was an ASE certified master mechanic and the proud owner of Moorman Automotive Engineering, a business he ran with skill and passion for 20 years. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his genuine care for his customers, whom he treated like family.

Outside of his work, Starlon rebuilt classic cars and was an avid Drag Racer and spent time at the Atmore and Emerald Coast Dragway's where he raced his 1972 Nova. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family and friends and had a love for rescuing animals.

Those left to cherish his memory include the greatest joys of his life, his daughter, Carmela Cook (Zach) and son, Starlon Ray Moorman III (Elise); his sister, Cynthia Aholt; mother, Barbara Goss (John); grandchildren, Savannah, Starlon IV, and Avery; as well as many loving friends and family members.

A visitation will be held from 9:00am until a Celebration of Life begins at 10:00am Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL, with Msgr. Michael Reed officiating. Fellow car enthusiasts are asked to drive their hot rods to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pensacola Humane Society, George Stone Technical College's Master Automotive Service program, or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
