Stella Grubbs Hopkins, 96, of Pensacola, FL gently passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, surrounded by family, friends, and staff at her home at The Waterford of Carpenter's Creek.

She was born as the only daughter to the late John and Hattie Grubbs in Montgomery, AL on November 24, 1926. Stella maintained life-long friendships with many of her schoolmates. When she graduated from Murphy High School in 1943, she did her part in WWII by dancing with the soldiers at the USO club in Mobile, after she got off work from the Alcoa Aluminum Company. In April of 1949, she went on a blind date with a fellow from Pensacola, J.B. Hopkins, and they were married 5 months later! J.B. and Stella had 4 daughters and Stella forewent all career opportunities to raise her girls and take excellent care of J.B. After her daughters were grown, Stella opened a small sportswear company, Pauline's, where everything was $4.00! In 1979, Stella began her career in real estate and became a broker/salesperson and charter member of Connell and Company Realty. Stella retired in 2016 when she reached 90 years of age.

Stella is preceded in her death by her husband of 53 years, J. B. Hopkins; her daughters, Delrene and Julie; her brothers, John Jr. and Bobby; as well as too many other relatives and friends.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, E.W. Hopkins; her daughters, Holly Algee (John) and Terrie Langham (Steve); 5 grandchildren, Tiger, Joshua, Amy, Adam, and Ashley; as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

A "STELLA-bration" of her life is being held 3:00pm Saturday, November 11, 2023, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church on 12th Avenue with the Rev. Susan Sowers officiating.
