Obituary

Stephen John Grogan, Jr., 34, passed away February 25, 2020 at home in Gulf Breeze, Florida after a prolonged battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. He was born to Stephen and Nancy Grogan June 5th, 1985, in Salt Lake City, UT.

While growing up, his first love was the beach and visiting his grandparents in Pensacola.  Stephen also enjoyed ice hockey, snowboarding, Civil Air Patrol, flying (he received his pilot's license when he was 15), sailing, diving, running and triathlons.

Stephen attended school in Sandy, Ut. Juan Diego High School, Salt Lake Community College and University of West Florida graduating in 2007 wi th a bachelor's degree in communications.  His college summers were spent attending Officer Candidate School for the United States Marine Corps.  The day he graduated from the University of West Florida, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant at the Pensacola Naval Air Station and received his first salute from his grandfather, James Tucker.

Stephen served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years.  While in Afghanistan, without realizing it, he met his future wife, Christina , who was also serving in Afghanistan with the United States Marine Corps .

At the end of his deployment Stephen was assigned to Kansas City Missouri where he was promoted to the rank of Captain. After his arrival, Stephen was surprised and delighted to see that Christina was also assigned to Kansas City.  Stephen knew quickly that " Christina was the love of his life". They spent their time visiting local breweries, doing local running events, and triathlons.

Stephen and Christina left the Marine Corps and moved to Gulf Breeze where they were married in 2013 and later had 2 children. With a drive to continue service to his country and community, Stephen found his dream job working in law enforcement at t he Pensacola Police Department .

F amily remained Stephen's primary focus to the very end.  In his final year, while still undergoing extensive medical treatments, Stephen and Christina made certain to build and create memories for their young family to carry forward.  They were ever thankful to their extensive law enforcement family and the local community for their support in these final months.

Stephen is survived by his wife Christina. Sons , Tristan 5 and Camden 2.  Parents Stephen and Nancy Grogan and his grandmother, Evelyn Tucker.
