Dr. Steven D. Claus of Pensacola Beach, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the age of 55.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; sister, Anita Farwell (Ron) of South FL; sister, Bonita Whittaker (Bruce) of NC and a beautiful bunch of nieces and nieces, of which he was very proud. He is also survived by his precious dog-daughter, Waikiki Kalikimaka Claus and many dear friends.
He loved traveling above all, for business and for pleasure, and was fortunate to explore a lot of the world. Pensacola Beach was his favorite place on earth, though. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Krewe of Wrecks.
He enjoyed learning. In 1984, he earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa, OK. At Southern Methodist University in Dallas, he earned his Masters of Business Administration in 1988. In 1996, he finished his doctorate becoming an Osteopathic Internal Medicine Physician at Oklahoma State University. He had a great passion for patient care and a steadfast desire to care for them in the face of the ever changing administrative business aspects of the health care industry today. He held medical licenses in several states so he could serve as a traveling hospitalist for the last 8 years.
Memorial Visitation will be held 10:30am until the Memorial Mass to begin at 11:00am Friday, November 11, 2016 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Pensacola Beach, with Msgr. Luke Hunt celebrant. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
