Sue Eller Sparks, 88, of Pensacola passed away to her eternal home on Friday, November 8, 2013. Sue had been in poor health since 2008. Since 2010, Sue was a resident of The Haven of Our Lady of Peace where she was known as a kind and grateful woman. Sue was a native of Hayesville, NC and had resided in Pensacola since moving to complete her nursing training at Sacred Heart Hospital as part of the first Nurses Cadet Corp class of 1945. After training, she enjoyed her years working as a RN for Dr. Mock in obstetrics. In 1946, Sue married William T. (Tommy) Sparks who precedes her in death. Together they owned Sparks Hannah Pharmacy in downtown Pensacola from 1961 to 1982. Tommy was the pharmacist (University of Florida 1954) and Sue managed the drug store doing all of the purchasing, merchandising, and bookkeeping. Her business skills helped make the store successful. Sue was a member of East Hill Baptist Church since 1955 serving for many years in the pre-school Sunday School classes. Many will remember Sue for her practical way of serving others through her baking, gift giving, and other simple acts of kindness. Surviving Sue are her son, Bill (Cathy); grandchildren, Tim (Carly) and Carolyn (Tony) Mariapain; sisters, Jean "Nebs" Sherrill and Helen "Jo" Trantham; brother, Carroll "Crutch" Eller and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Harper Morris Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16 at 10am followed by a funeral service at 11am. Reverend Jim Burkhardt of East Hill Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Sue was a lover of flowers which will be accepted or memorial gifts can be made to The Navigators P.O.
