Sue Fountain Turner, 60, of Pensacola, FL passed away Sunday at her home with her husband of 38 years, David Turner, at her side. Sue was born in Pensacola, FL where she lived her entire life. She graduated from Escambia High School and went on to Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida where she received both bachelors and masters degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Sue knew since she was a child that she wanted to be a teacher. She began her career at Hallmark Elementary and later moved to Bellview Elementary where she taught until her death. After 40 years as a kindergarten and first grade teacher, she will be remembered for her impact on the lives of many children and their families. Sue was loved by those she worked with, and was voted Teacher of the Year in 1986. Sue was known for her endless devotion to her family and friends. She was most proud of her two sons who both became Eagle Scouts. Her oldest son, Brian, is a Major in the United States Marine Corps, and her youngest son, Joey, is a successful attorney in Panama City. Her sons were her pride and joy. Sue was a positive and supportive friend to all who knew her. She touched many lives through her teaching, her church, and her family. Sue is survived by her loving husband, David Turner; her devoted sons, Brian Turner and Joey Turner; her brother, Steve Fountain and her daughter-in-law Stephanie Turner. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 10:45am at Bellview United Methodist Church where she attended. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30pm. All are invited to attend. Visitation will be held at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel from 5:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
