Susan Lacaire Louy, 83, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, after a brief illness.
Susan was born in Northampton, MA on June 2, 1939, the daughter of Anthony Lacaire and Louise Gendreau Lacaire. She graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA and Framingham State Teachers College. She joined the US Naval Reserves for a dietetic internship completed at the University of Michigan. She spent eight years on active duty at Naval hospitals in Jacksonville, FL; Oakland, CA; and Yokosuka, Japan.
As a Lieutenant serving in Yokosuka in 1967, she met the love of her life, Navy helicopter pilot LTJG Michael Louy at the US Naval Hospital. They were married in November 1968.
Susan is preceded in death by her beloved son, John, and brother, LTJG David Lacaire, USN.
She was an extraordinary and much-loved mother of Catherine Louy, John Louy, Christine Louy McGowan (Jeff), Stephen Louy (Anna), and Paul Louy (Lee) and sister of Jack Lacaire (Patrice) and Tom Lacaire (Kathleen). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Madeleine and John McGowan and Ellison and Mary Brandt Sizemore and several nieces and nephews.
Susan was a cherished, active member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She loved spending time outdoors at the beach, on family boat trips, and long drives in the family Volkswagen bus.
Her family is especially grateful to the Sacred Heart Hospital ICU nursing staff.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:15am with a Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00am Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd, Pensacola, FL, 32503, with Fr. Jack Campbell and Bishop Martin Holley celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with US Navy Honors.
