Obituary

Dear Friends,

This message is going out to all our friends and relatives and anyone who followed Susan Ward on Facebook:

I'm Harry Ward, Susan's husband. On Saturday October 8, 2022, at approximately 2 o'clock, Susan went to be with her heavenly father, ending her battle with heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Many of you know that Susan had struggled for many years with these terrible diseases.

The picture you see is from, March 27, 1982, the day Susan and I were married. It was the happiest day of my life. Susan used to joke with me that she chose me, and that made me the luckiest man in the world that she did.

That morning of her passing, when I arrived at the hospital her nurse told me it may not be long before she would be going. I was able to spend the last two hours with Susan. We expressed our love for one another. As she began to drift away, I played, "My Heart Will Go On," the theme song from the movie, "Titanic," and "The Prayer" by Celine Dion. I said the Lord's Prayer and I recited the 23 rd Psalm. I recited them both one more time, and when I looked up, Sue had stopped breathing…she was gone.

Susan was born on February 14, 1957, in Independence, MO. I used to joke with people that we celebrated the whole month of February, and the full month of March, since that was our anniversary month. I will always remember Susan in this picture, young and beautiful, without the ravages of disease. Susan graduated from Ruskin High School, in Kansas City, Missouri and then went on to graduate from Graceland College, in Lamoni, Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education. After we were married, we settled in Pensacola, and began our lives together. Although we never had children, Susan loved children and taught many through the years, she worked at St Thomas More Elementary School, Ali Nestra Elementary School, and finished her career at Ferry Pass Elementary School. Susan taught K-5 and she liked the 5 th grade the best because they understood her jokes.

We both had a love for animals and always had dogs in our home. I am left with two of Susan's "nurses" Gracie Joy and Pixie Doodle. They took good care of Susan, and they will continue to take good care of me. One of Susan's greatest joys was sitting in her love seat with one dog on each side of her and watching Hallmark Movies with me.

I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers through the years. And I would ask for your continued prayerful support through my time of grieving.

Godspeed Susan, I will always love you,

Harry
