Sybil Eudene Gilliam Hudson, a woman of remarkable warmth and faith, passed away on October 15, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida, at the age of 101. Her long and well-lived life was marked by generosity, devotion to family, and an abiding love for all those she encountered. Born on October 30, 1924, in Cumberland, Kentucky, to James and Polly Gilliam, Sybil grew up in the countryside, raised alongside her protective and adoring brothers. At the age of eighteen, she set out for Washington, D.C., where she began a prosperous and successful career as an administrative assistant in the United States Civil Service. It was during these years that she met and married her beloved husband, Clarence Audley Hudson, and together they welcomed their daughter, Pamela Diana Hudson. As a military family, they were stationed throughout the country, embracing each new chapter with grace. In time, they settled in Florida, where Sybil enjoyed her retirement in Ocala and spent the final years of her life in Pensacola with her daughter and son-in-law and their family. Those who knew Sybil remember her as thoughtful, kind, and endlessly generous. She adored children, delighting especially in her nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was always open, and she never failed to have a meal ready for any visitor who came to call. She cherished the company of friends over games of bridge, and she found great joy in her church community and the time she spent with loved ones. A woman of deep faith, Sybil was an active member of a ladies life group at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, where her devotion to God and neighbor shone brightly. Sybil is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Clarence Audley Hudson, and her cherished daughter, Pamela Hudson Holliday. She leaves behind a loving family and a legacy of kindness that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. In her final years, Sybil was blessed with many loving and supportive caregivers, to whom her family is incredibly grateful. A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church chapel, with a reception to follow. May she rest in the eternal peace of the Lord she faithfully served, reunited now with those who went before her.
