Sylvia F. Macon, 93, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Sylvia was born on April 3, 1918 in New Albany, IN where she met and married A. Leon Macon. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Louisville, KY where they resided until 1963, at which time they moved to Pensacola. Sylvia owned and operated Sylvias Beauty Shoppe for forty years, retiring in 2003. Sylvia was a longtime faithful member of Gadsden St. United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Chancel Choir, the UMW and the Jim Robinson Sunday School Class. Preceding her in death was her husband, A. Leon Macon and a brother, Edward B. Ferrell. Survivors include her son, Larry A. Macon (Denise) of Fleming Island, FL; a daughter, Diane M. Garner (Richard) of Pensacola, FL; sister, Shirley F. Ditsch of Crescent Springs, KY; her grandson, Mark Macon of New Castle, DE; a granddaughter, Leigh Ann Macon of Mobile, AL and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 5-7pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 11:00am from Gadsden St. United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Asso., the American Diabetes Society or to Gadsden St. United Methodist Church Missions.
