Obituary

Tammy Noelle Armstead, 47, of Cantonment, Florida died on Thursday, December 14, 2017 after a fifteen year battle with cancer.

Tammy was born November 24, 1970 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. She grew up in Jericho, Vermont and attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, graduating in 1993. She worked for over 20 years as a pharmacist for the Kmart Corporation in Iowa, Maryland, and Florida.

Tammy's passion in life was finding and sharing the beauty and joy in the world around her. She enjoyed painting, photographing flowers, and served for many years in the children's ministry at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. For the past fifteen years, she was a dedicated participant in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. She grew up with the nickname "Minnie" and has maintained a special affinity for Minnie Mouse. She had a special place in her heart for her many dogs, the color purple, and chocolate in any form. She will always be remembered as a proud, loving mother, sister, and daughter and that is reflected in the strong, determined women that she called family.

She is survived by her daughters, Emily Washler and Sarah Washler; her husband, Rick Armstead; her mother, Alice Johns of Huntley, Illinois; her father and step-mother, George and Catherine Johns of Whiting, Maine; her sister, Susan Johns of Glenview, Illinois and many step-siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 9 th Ave Campus. A reception will follow at the church. Private family burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In honor and remembrance of Tammy, all are invited to wear something purple to her memorial service.
