IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thelma D.
Carroll
April 15, 1927 – September 5, 2021
Thelma D. Carroll, 94, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, in Bellevue, NE.
Thelma was born on April 15, 1927, to the late Joshua Shade Dykes and Clara M. Dykes in Woodmere, FL. She grew up in the rural Florida panhandle near the town of Cottondale, FL until she moved to the big city of Pensacola.
She married Milton M. Carroll on June 4, 1949, and they raised a family in East Pensacola Heights, FL. While residing in East Pensacola Heights, Thelma was active in her community and church. She moved to Papillion, NE in December of 2014, where she resided until her death. She always said, "You can take the girl out of Florida, but you can never take Florida out of the girl!". Even after seven years of life in Nebraska, she always considered East Pensacola Heights her true home and the area where she desired to be laid to rest.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Milton and her grandson, David Akers.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pamela Carroll Gershon (Joe) and Debrah Carroll Akers (Randy); four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 10:30am until a memorial service to begin at 11:00am Friday, September 10, 2021, at Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Nott officiating. For those who would like to attend, a funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 8:30am for a graveside service to begin at 9:00am Friday, September 10, 2021, at Barrancas National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.
