Obituary

Thelma Cooey, 80, left this life to join her heavenly Father on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Thelma was born on May 12, 1940 in Westville, FL to Clay Patry and Annie Bell Reynolds. She was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class and shortly after married her sweetheart, Wallace Cooey. The couple moved to Pensacola, had two children, and enjoyed a rich partnership in the contracting and lumber business until Walt's death in 2003. At this time, Thelma volunteered with and became a generous donor for Covenant Hospice and the Sacred Heart Cancer Center. Thelma was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for several years and built many lasting friendships. Her three grandchildren were the joy of her later years. Known to them as "Mamaw", she was loving, generous and provided them with many wonderful lifetime memories.

Thelma is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Wallace W. Cooey.

She is survived by her siblings, Ethel, Linda, and J.C.; her daughter, Elizabeth West (Bob); her son, Clay Cooey; a daughter-in-law, Ann Erickson (Jay); grandchildren, Rachel Bonifay (Robert), Wallace West (Colleen) and Natalie West; as well as great-granddaughters, Brie and Aniston "Annie" Bonifay.

At her request, private family graveside services will be held in Westville, FL.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
