Theodore F. Elbert III, 92, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully in Niceville, FL on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Theo, also known as Dad, Grandad, and Great Grandad, lived a wonderful life, filled with good times, family, and friends. He touched so many lives through his teaching at the University of West Florida, where he became the Chairman of the Department of Computer Science which he also helped to create. He spent 4 years as an active naval pilot, flying planes around Korea. He remained a pilot and owned a small plane for many years. Theo often enjoyed taking his kids flying around Pensacola Beach. He loved the Blue Angels and rarely missed their summer air show on the beach. He worked as a guide at the Naval aviation museum and always enjoyed the Blues airshow in November.

Theo loved his family and he always had good times in store for them, especially when they would all meet at his condo in Pensacola Beach. Jet skis, sailboats, ski boats, and much more were always set up leading to great times and lasting memories, like who would show up with the biggest squirt gun.

Theo is preceded in death by his lifelong love and wife of 64 years, Barbara, and his son, Larry.

Survivors include his three sons, Steve (Lisa), Tim (Shelly), and Mark (Maureen); four grandsons, Jason (Jennifer), Ryan (Tory), Preston (Katie), and Tyler; as well as three wonderful great granddaughters, Brooklyn, Blakely, and Maya.

A Graveside Service will be held 11:30am Friday, February 16, 2024, at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Chaplain Jim Dietz officiating. A funeral cortege will depart at 11:00am from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL.
