IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Patrick
Keane, Uscg (Ret.)
July 27, 1940 – December 30, 2022
Captain Thomas Patrick Keane, USCG (Ret.), 82, of Gulf Breeze, FL was surrounded by love when he left this earth on Friday, December 30, 2022, after celebrating what would be his last (great) Christmas with his sons and sister.
Tom was born in New York, NY. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science, with honors, from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1962. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard for 34 years before retiring in 1992. He had the most amazing stories as a search and rescue pilot, rescuing people across the world, medical transports, guiding ice-breakers in Antarctica, and crashing more than once. While transporting a helicopter cross-country, he met Beth Keane in Kansas City, KS (then a technical writer for the United States Coast Guard Academy) and was immediately smitten, asking "hey babe, wanna boogie?" Once the stars aligned, they married in 1972 in Norman, OK. After retiring from the Coast Guard, he went on to work for the Marine Spill Response Corporation in Savannah, GA. He finally retired to Gulf Breeze, FL in 1998. Tom loved flying, sailing, his Renew Group, being a devout Catholic, his Coast Guard buddies, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Waiting to welcome him into heaven is the love of his life, Beth Keane, his parents, Thomas and Mary Keane and infant grandson, Tristan Klein Keane.
He leaves behind his sons, Justin Christopher Klein Keane, Thomas Christian Keane, James Wilson Keane, and Benjamin Patrick Keane. Blessings were multiplied when Justin married Wendy Klein Keane who had Tom's dear grandchildren, Tristan, Harper Nash, and Ophelia Louise; Christian and Shannon Rigney had his wonderful granddaughter, Winifred Martha and sweet grandson, Duncan Lancelot; and Benjamin married Lindsay Brewster Keane, and they had his enchanting grandchildren, Paxton Eliot Brewster, Deklan Brewster, and Sawyer Cathryn. He also leaves behind his cherished younger sister, Rosalie Keane of Babylon, NY.
Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Friday, January 6, 2023, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze with Father John Cayer celebrant. Committal Service will be held at 11:00am at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the organizations that honor his late wife and mother: American Cancer Society, 5401 Corporate Woods Dr., Pensacola, FL 32504, Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504, or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
