Obituary

One of the most beloved and respected men in Pensacola, Tommy McVoy Sr., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 6, 2017 with his wife at his side.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Stanley on July 21, 1950, nearly 67 years ago and together raised a most beautiful and loving family. Nothing was ever more important to Tommy than his family. Tommy was born in Pensacola on December 21, 1928, into the McVoy family which was part of the Galvez settlement dating back around 1781. He graduated from Pensacola High School where he was a member of the football team. He later attended the University of Florida before enlisting in the US Army. He returned to Pensacola and worked at the Coca Cola bottling plant before becoming a long time employee of Liberty National Life Insurance Company where he retired after 30 years.

In 1949 Tommy met Barbara Stanley and his life changed forever. They've shared a love stronger and more beautiful than any can imagine.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Johanna Renee' Busbee.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Barbara Stanley McVoy; daughter, Diane Ripley (John); son, Tommy McVoy, Jr. (Bernadette); daughter, Debbie Anglin (Kipp); daughter, Trish Wilson (Brad); grandchildren, Tiffany Ford, Ben Nettles, Jillian Davis, Thomas McVoy III, Alec Purser, Mallory Tarkowski, Cutter Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Johanna, Keagan, Rowan, Anglin and Emery.

Visitation will be held 11:00am until the Funeral Service to begin at 1:00pm Tuesday, July 11, 2017at First Baptist Church of Pensacola, with Dr. Barry Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Tom Johnson, Bob Johnson, Ben Nettles, Matt Davis, Alec Purser, and Thomas McVoy III.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Wilson, Jim Miller, George Markham, Dr. Amos Prevatt, Drew Wagner, Harry Kastinakas, Dr.Thabet Alsheikh, Dr. John Bray and Burgess Stone.

The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Hospital, Baptist Home Health Care, Covenant Hospice, numerous health care professionals, and the staff and congregation of the First Baptist Church of Pensacola.
