Thomas Pou Scarritt Sr., 79, of Pensacola died peacefully at home with family on May 16, 2011. Tommy graduated from Florida State University and was one of the founders of the Panhandle Seminole Boosters Club. He was also Chairman of the March of Dimes and on their board for many years. He worked as a Counselor for the State of Florida Vocational Rehabilitation Office for almost 45 years and was beloved by his co-workers, clients, and many friends at work and in the Pensacola community. Jo Jo loved his hometown, his family, friends, fishing and his Seminoles. He attended St. Paul's Catholic Church and fathered seven children with his former wife, Jeanie Bullock, who also passed away last year. Survivors include his longtime companion, Ms. Shirley Ferriss Gray, his children, Stephanie Scarritt Dempsey (Kevin), Terese Scarritt Shelton (Tom), Thomas Scarritt, Jr. (Linda), Lisa Scarritt Dudney (Bill), Patrice Scarritt Adams (Blaise), Hunt Scarritt, Palmer Scarritt (Ginny) and his step-children, Katrina Gray McCullough, Kimberly Gray Tucci, and Lockwood Gray. He was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Memorial Mass will be held 12 noon Saturday, May 21, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in his name by the Catholic High Memorial Scholarship Fund, 3043 West Scott St. Pensacola, FL 32505.
