Vaughn Johnson, 79, of Pensacola passed away on October 11, 2010 after a wonderful life. She always enjoyed the people around her. She spent a great deal of her time joking, kidding and making people smile. Mrs. Johnson was born in Linden, TX and had resided in Maryland, Tennessee, Alabama, Illinois, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin and Texas. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas where she met the love of her life Henry H. Johnson from Atlanta, TX. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at S.M.U. and a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota national music Honorary at George Peabody College. She also attended the Univ. of Texas, Jacksonville University, Univ. of West Florida, Univ. of Toledo, Univ. of Michigan and did graduate work in music education at Siena Heights College and the Univ. of Wisconsin. She also attended the Interlocken national music camp. During her travels she served on the board of the Pensacola Symphony. She was a docent for the Milwaukee symphony orchestra and sang in the Toledo, Ohio Symphony Chorale. She also enjoyed singing in the choir at the First United Methodist Church in Pensacola for several years. As an elementary music educator for over 30 years, she loved interacting and teaching children about music. She volunteered her time teaching music after retirement. She had also developed many friendships working with the ladies golf association at the Scenic Hills country club. She is preceded in death by her parents, Christine Harper Yandell and Marshall Yandell. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Henry H. Johnson, sons Hardy Marshall Johnson (Danette), Michael ONeal Johnson (Sherrie) and four grandchildren, Kristyn, Marissa, Sean and Victoria. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. with the Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Pensacola, 6 E. Wright St. on Saturday, October 16, 2010.
