Victor A. Sapio, 80, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017. He was born on February 22, 1937 in Naples, Italy. He and his mother came to New York in August of 1946.

He graduated from West Nottingham Academy in 1954, received his B.A. from the College of Wooster in 1958, his M.A. from the University of Illinois in 1959 and his Ph.D from Ohio State University in 1965. He was a history professor for Troy State University at campuses in Florida and abroad.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 56 years; three children, Karen Sapio (Tony Becker) of Claremont, CA, David Sapio of Lakewood, CO and Kathryn Meador (Coleman) of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Clayton Becker, Clara Becker, Kyle Sapio and Cole Meador.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Pensacola.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, 300 W. Leonard St., Pensacola, FL 32501 .
