Obituary

Virginia Goodwin Lovell, 66, of Pensacola, FL, was called to be with the Lord early in the morning on September 17, 2023. She fought a short but fierce battle against lung disease, which resulted from two previous treatments for breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born in LaGrange, GA, on June 4, 1957. As the middle of three sisters, she usually assumed the role of peacemaker, a skill she carried throughout her life. She attended Auburn University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. There, she fell in love with and married her husband of 46 years, Adrian Lovell. After graduation, the couple moved to Pensacola, where they built successful careers and raised their two children. Virginia worked as a pharmacist at Molton's Pharmacy, West Florida Hospital, Big B Drugs, Sacred Heart Hospital, and Whiting Field Pharmacy until she retired in 2014. Virginia pursued her passions in retirement: sewing heirloom children's clothing, serving others through cooking and baking, traveling with her husband, spending time with her precious grandchildren (to whom she was "Jammie"), and studying the Bible. She was known in her community as a quiet woman of strong faith, love, and service — a humble servant. As her seven-year-old grandson put it, she "really knew God." Her class, grace, and selflessness will be remembered by her adoring family, many close friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by her father, William "Bill" Goodwin of Pine Mountain, GA.

Virginia is survived by her husband, William Adrian Lovell, Jr.; her mother, Sue Goodwin; sisters, Catherine Goodwin and Laurie Reece (Verlyn); her children, William Adrian Lovell, III (Lauren) of Birmingham, Jennifer Lovell Lewis (Kellan) of Pensacola; her grandchildren, William Adrian Lovell, IV (8), Tilson Ballard Lovell (6), Edwin Lawrence Lovell (3), Henry Buckingham Lewis (7), Virginia Joyce Lewis (4), and John Griffin Lewis (3).

A service celebrating Virginia's life will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Pensacola. Visitation will be at 10 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission First at First Baptist Church of Pensacola. (  https://www.fbcp.org/missionfirst)
