Virginia Elander Rutledge, 95, of Pensacola Beach, FL passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Virginia was born June 13, 1917, in Jamestown NY. She graduated from Miami University (Ohio). She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and was recently honored for reaching the milestone of being a member in good standing for 75 years. She was active in the Pensacola area Delta Gamma alumnae association. Living in Jackson and Pensacola, Virginia enjoyed playing golf. She was also an avid bridge player and active in the Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Buford Rutledge; her parents, Daniel and Gertrude Elander and her sisters, Doris Guertin and Ann-Louise Kelley. Survivors include her daughters, Ann Rutledge Constance (George), and Jane Karr (Michael); grandchildren, Julie Dorian and Matthew Coleman (Hyphy) and great-grandchildren, Madchen and Shane Dorian, Mark and Isaac Coleman; step-granchildren and great-grandchildren, Wes and Joette, Kayla, Aiden, Jacob and Kelly, Olivia and Charlotte. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Virginia Elander Rutledge of Pensacola Beach, formerly of Jackson MS, will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze, FL at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. The family would like to thank her friend and caregiver, Mrs. Dell Roadman, Emerald Coast Hospice and Dr. Vicky Roy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice or St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church of Gulf Breeze, FL.
