Vivian Mayes Gamble, 100, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Pace, FL where she spent the last 8 years of her life.

Vivian's journey through life began on March 4, 1923, in Kelly, LA. She attended Kelly High School where she graduated in 1940. After graduation she moved to New Orleans at the age of 18 where she began a lengthy career at Famous Sternberg (later Deansgate) as a seamstress which spanned more than 50 years.

Vivian is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lyle Gamble, who she married in 1959 and who passed away suddenly at the age of 43 in 1963. After Lyle's death, Vivian raised two daughters, Mary and Susie as a single mother.

Vivian was greatly loved by many friends and family. She is survived by her daughters, Susie (John) Brosnaham & Mary (Paul) Burright. She was a loving grandmother to 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; as well as a lengthy list of nieces and nephews. Vivian will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Springhill Baptist Church in Grayson, LA.
