IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wallace Sawyer
Arnold
March 16, 1946 – June 7, 2025
Wallace Sawyer Arnold, a devoted family man, passionate beekeeper, and beloved figure in the Pensacola community, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Pensacola on March 16, 1946, to Donald Craig and Minnie Guernsey Arnold, Wallace spent his entire life rooted in the place he called home.
Wallace dedicated many years to his career, working at Monsanto, St. Regis, and North Sea Oil, all within the Pensacola area. Later, he channeled his talents into home construction and remodeling. Upon retirement, Wallace discovered his true calling as an avid beekeeper, a pursuit he embraced with enthusiasm for the last 15 years of his life.
Wallace was a man of many interests. He enjoyed sports, woodworking, fishing, gaming, meteorology, and birdwatching. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, loving the mountains, traveling, and exploring state parks. He held fond memories of his childhood summers spent at his maternal grandparents', the Sawyers, home in Sunapee, New Hampshire.
An exceptional athlete, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox organization directly out of high school. He was a loyal gallon giver at the Northwest Florida Blood Center and actively served as a local sports official. Baptized in 2003 at First Baptist Church Pensacola, Wallace was a regular attendee at New Hope Assembly of God in Jay, FL.
Wallace's unwavering focus was his family and the work he accomplished. His character was defined by profound kindness, a wonderful sense of humor, and limitless generosity. A strong, hardworking, passionate, and positive presence, Wallace was known for his persistence, loyalty, and outgoing nature. He was a true reconciler, always quick to mend fences, and possessed a gentle spirit along with a witty sense of humor. His dedication to those he loved was unwavering, and as a minimalist at heart, he cherished time with friends and family far above any material possessions. This deep care was evident in his constant support; he would always teach, help, and cheer on family members at their sporting and school events, generously insisting on paying for everything and never asking for anything in return. Even in his final days, his family's needs remained his utmost priority.
Wallace shared a profound connection with Brenda Gail Scott, his sweetheart and devoted partner in faith. He was a loving father to Tracy Diane Roden (Greg), Barrie Craig Arnold (Alexa), and Rebecca Sue Anderson (Drew). His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: James Gregory Morgan (Ashley), Ashlee Diane Alexander (Brandon), Logan Sawyer Edmonson (Sarah), Mary Kaylie Lopez (Damian), Eleanor Sue Anderson, Abigail Jules Anderson, and Merrill Wallace Anderson. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Josiah Jarell Griffin, Kiptyn Brooks Morgan, Baylee James Alexander, Kendall James Lopez, Mason Brent Lopez, and Oaklyn Sawyer Edmonson, as well as step-great-grandchildren: Bryce Henry Alexander, Landon Blaine Gates, Ellie Kate Gates, and Reagan Lee Chamness.
Wallace was preceded in death by all of his siblings: Paul Craig Arnold (Mary), Sarah Jane Rector (Joe), and Richard Gaylor Arnold (Joyce); and by his grandson, James Gregory Morgan.
Wallace generously extended his fatherly love and guidance, serving as an adopted father, grandfather, and family member to many. This embrace included, but was not limited to: Kenneth Shawn Scott, Benjamin Leon Scott (Samantha), William Allen Scott (Kendall), Kenlee Gail Scott, Kenneth Hayes Scott, Benjamin Cade Scott, and Parker Grace Scott.
A Celebration of Life for Wallace will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church Pensacola - Chipley Hall, 500 N Palafox St, Pensacola, FL 32501. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM.
