Wallace Bonner Baldwin, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Wallace was born January 5, 1939, in Randolph County, AL where he lived until he joined the US Army in 1956. He faithfully served in the military as a helicopter mechanic from June 1956 to July 1980, including battling in the Vietnam War. After retiring, he returned to Alabama where he earned a master's degree in education and proceeded to teach high school math for the next 10 years.
In 1984, Wallace married Barbara I. McClellan and they resided for the next 40 years in Auburn, AL. Wallace and Barbara were longtime members of the Auburn First Baptist Church where he was the coordinator of 27 mission trips to Brazil. He enjoyed serving God and those less fortunate than himself. Wallace served as the president of the Auburn Camellia Club, an avid gardener and devoted traveler. "Pop" was a grandfather to 6 and a great grandfather to 5. He was loved by many and will be missed by Barbara and his family.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30am Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Barrancas National Cemetery. For those wishing to attend, a funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 9:00am sharp.
