IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wesley
Chalk
May 4, 1941 – August 30, 2024
Talis "Wesley" Chalk passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the age of 83.
Wesley was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather "Papa", and friend to so many that he met during his 83 years of life. He was born right here in Pensacola, FL, on May 4, 1941, to Mildred Ernestine Chalk and Harold Wesley Chalk. He spent his youth growing up on Bay Boulevard in old East Pensacola Heights, or as he loved to call it, "The western gate to the sunshine state, where thousands live the way millions wish they could." Wesley was sent to Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN, for his 6th to 12th grade years, where he forged lifelong friendships and grew into the wonderful man he was known by all to be.
Wesley returned home to graduate from Pensacola High School in 1959 and began working at Monsanto Textiles and Technical Plant in Pensacola as a Chemical Operator. It was here that he met his first, and only, wife Helen (Jackson) Chalk. The two were married April 20, 1962, and soon welcomed their only child, Tina Renee Chalk, in March of 1963. Following 12½ years of working at Monsanto, Wesley began taking steps in earning his real estate and broker's license and going on to distinguished career in real estate from 1976 through 2017 with his businesses Pine Forest Realty and Centre Group Properties.
To those that had the pleasure of knowing him, all will agree that Wesley was a lover of all things automotive. Throughout his lifetime, he purchased and sold so many vehicles that he once was told that he was on the road to requiring a dealership license. Many will remember his nearly 18-year journey of fully restoring his prized 1957 Ford Thunderbird. When asked by friends and family how much longer he estimated, he would always reply with his famous, "Two more weeks." Upon completion in late 2010, he would go on to enter the T-Bird in competitions across the United States and was subsequently awarded numerous National Titles.
To Wesley, quality time with family and friends was cherished. Our memories are flooded with yearly ski trips in the mountains of Colorado, Utah, and Montana, as well as summers spent lobstering in the Florida Keys with lifelong friends Bill and Karen Brooker. His love of life, family, and friends is a comforting memory that we can all hold in our hearts forever.
Wesley is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Chalk; daughter, Tina Chalk; granddaughter, Ashley Keyes (Austin); grandson, Wesley Dean; nephews, William "Bill" Putman and Daniel Putman (Penney); niece, Melissa Putman-Cox (Cory). And last but not least we forget his adorable A.J., who is not a dog (she is in fact a dog).
