William "Bill" B. Smith, 88, of Kenneth City, FL passed away Friday, March 17, 2017.
Mr. Smith was born in Cottondale, FL on February 20, 1929 to Claudia Elizabeth Marshall McKee Smith and Boney Taylor Smith, Sr. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1947, and Pensacola Junior College before receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida State University in 1953. He served his country in the Naval Reserves. Mr. Smith worked for the St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company for 33 years, starting as a Claims Adjuster and retiring as Claims Manager. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Hillsborough Lodge since 1979. He served on the Kenneth City Council for two terms and as Mayor for two terms. In 1948, he sailed out of Pensacola on the "Esperanza" in the St. Pete to Cuba race. He loved fishing, tinkering with cars and could fix anything. Most of all he was a devoted, caring, loving husband to Gladys for 54 years and a proud dedicated father to Wanda, Susan and Brenda. The love he had for all his girls was known by all.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Colley Smith and daughter, Brenda Smith.
He is survived by his daughters, Wanda Smith of St. Petersburg, FL and Susan Smith of Pensacola, FL.
Visitation will be held 11:00am until the Funeral Service at 12:00pm Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Coyl of Pensacola Beach Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
