William "Bill" Benjamin Nees, 73, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

Bill was born on March 17, 1947 in Painesville, OH. He grew up in Midwest City, OK. He joined the Navy just before he was 18 years old. He received his GED in the Navy, and completed 2 years of college at Langston University in Langston, OK. Bill was currently living in Valdosta, GA. He was raised Baptist. He loved fishing, and making computers do what he wanted them to do. He loved to work on building websites.

Bill was a cross country truck driver for 45 years. He received many awards for safe driving over the years as a trucker driver. He loved the open road where he could see the beauty of God's creation. He was a lover of this country (USA) and he never wanted to leave it. Being a truck driver, Bill had a lot of friends across the United States. He never met a stranger. He kept everyone laughing with his jokes. He missed a lot of things in his children's life by being a truck driver, but his children knew that he loved them very much. Bill was well loved by family and friends. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone who needed it. He will be truly missed by family and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Ludwig Nees and Rosetta Picket Nees; grandson, Liam Nees; brothers, Leonard and Johnny Nees; as well as his sister, Katherine "Kathy" Nees.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Nees; two sons, William Benjamin Nees, Jr. (Heidi) and Bryan Dale Nees (Sara); daughter, Hope Reneeaa Nees Ashby (Don); seven grandchildren, Trey Nees, Jolee Nees, Charley Jernigan (John), Gabriel Nees, Jordan Candieas, Tyler Candieas, and Roman Ashby; five great-grandchildren, Mason Jernigan, Isaac Jernigan, Christopher Jernigan, Bryson Jernigan, and Noah Jernigan; brother-in-law, Bruce Sellers; nieces, Lisa Hulen (Bill), Loretta Eason, Martha Nees, Tiffany Sellers Loper, Kandi Johnson, Anna Sellers Smith (Brandon), Tasha Thompson, Kim Thompson and Tammy Thompson; nephews, Leonard Nees Jr. (Sandy), John Nees, Cristofer Nees, Joseph Sellers, Shane Sellers and Scott Sellers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ben Nees, Bryan Nees, Trey Nees, Gabriel Nees, Tylor Candieas, Don Ashby, Roman Ashby, John Jernigan and Noah Lankford.

The Nees family would like to thank everyone for the donations and flowers. We truly, deeply appreciate all of you.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
