William A. Bingle, 94, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Haven of Our Lady of Peace with his loving family at his side.
Bill was born on April 2, 1923 and raised in Newark, NJ. He retired from St. Petersburg Times and the Independent newspapers. Bill was a WWII veteran in the Coast Guard where he proudly served on the USS Big Horn. Bill was known for his witty sense of humor and enjoyed comedy of all forms. He volunteered at the Humane Society in Franklin, NC. He loved all animals, especially dogs. He leaves behind his precious dog, Phoebe.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Gloria.
Bill is survived by his children, Barbara Beck (Stewart), Betty Mraz (Steve) and his son, Billy Bingle; his six grandchildren, Andi Nelson (Will), Kimberly Perkins (Sean), Stephen Mraz (Sarah) Jeff Mraz, Laura and Stewart Beck; as well as six great-grandchildren, Evie and Leo Mraz, Liam Nelson, Charlotte, River and Trinity Perkins.
Memorial Visitation will be held at 9:00 am until the Memorial Mass begins at 9:30am, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Fr. James Valenzuela celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pensacola Humane Society, 5 North "Q" St., Pensacola, FL 32505, or on their website.
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for the professional and compassionate care extended by the staff of the Haven.
We are especially thankful for the long time loving care provided by Melody Colyer, R.N., and Kathy Foucha who made life more enjoyable for Mr. Bill, who told us all that, "His kind always lasts." His memory will always last in our hearts forever.
