Obituary

William Scott Campbell, Jr., lovingly known as Scott, went home to the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Scott was born in Shreveport, LA to the late William and Freddie Campbell. He spent his childhood in Monroe, LA and graduated from Neville High School where he was an accomplished athlete playing for state titles in baseball and football.

Scott excelled in sports, however he dreamed of becoming an architect at a young age. He attended the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, studying Architecture, he then went on to earn his degree in Building Construction at the University Louisiana-Monroe.

During his fifty-year career as an architect, he mentored many and was so proud of his many projects. Scott, however, was most proud of the life he built with his loving and caring wife, Carmela. They were high school sweethearts, and were married 55 years, settling in Pensacola Beach, FL. There, they delighted in the many memories made with their family and friends and enjoyed the beauty that surrounded them. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Blue Angels, beautiful sunsets, building WWII model airplanes, and LSU football.

Scott is preceded in death by his father, William Scott Campbell, Sr; his mother, Freddie Russ Campbell; and his brother, Fred Russell Campbell.

Survivors include his wife, Carmela; son, Trey Campbell, and his children, Madison McDermott (Patrick), Megan Gomez (Armando), mother of Madison and Megan, Kim Campbell; daughter, Courtney Thomson (Ryan), and her children Morgan Hobbs (Cole), and Parker Thomson, and Cooper Thomson.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday January 3, 2026, at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart,1212 E. Moreno Street, Pensacola, FL, 32503, a reception in the event hall at the church will follow.
