William "Bill" E. Wilson, Jr. went to be with our Lord on Christmas Day. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lillian Brockett Wilson and their son, Robert Edward Wilson. He is survived by his daughter, Fayolyn Wilson Phillips (John D.); sister, Nancy Kronenberg; cousins, Frances Monroe, John W. Monroe, Jr. (Debbie), their children Katie White, Scott Monroe, Gail Brockett White and former daughter-in-law, Barbara W. Rios. After graduation from high school, Bill joined his father in the insurance business. Upon WWII, he volunteered for the Army Air Corp. After completing flight training, he was assigned to the Training Command as a flying instructor in the advanced phase for fighter pilots and then later as an instrument flying instructor. He taught hundreds of pilots destined for service, including pilot Chuck Yeager in instrument navigation and they kept in touch through the years. After the war, he returned to the insurance business with his father at William E. Wilson and Son Insurance, later merging with other insurance businesses in our area. He enjoyed flying, boating and his summer cottage on Arnica Bay, Josephine, AL. Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Christ Episcopal Church with visitation in the church parlor afterward. Inurnment will be in the Christ Church columbarium.
