William Eldred Spence, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Pensacola. He was born on December 25, 1925 in LaGrange, GA to Samuel B. and Leola E. Spence. He was a WWII veteran. After serving in the armed forces during WWII, Bill returned home and married his bride Virginia Brown Spence in 1952 in Newnan, GA and moved to Pensacola, FL in 1955. They were bonded in marriage for 62 years. He retired from his service with the Escambia County Clerk of Courts in 1987. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Samuel and Robert. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; three children, daughter, Lisa Diane Spence, son, Michael Burton Spence (Suzanne Scheinholtz) and son, Tracy Adam Spence (Stacey Rosenbleeth); four grandchildren, Kathryn Michele and Linzy Eleanor Spence and Madison Eve and Adam Jackson Spence all from Pensacola. In Bill's younger days, he was a member of the Krewe of Lafitte. He loved to fish, duck hunt and golf. He was a simple man that enjoyed being with friends and with his children. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Monday, November 3, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 10:30am Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Pastor Laura Weant officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Ascherfeld, Ralph Disher, James Collins, Scott Disher, Louis Brown, Charles Buggs, Kenny Squazzo and Adam Spence.
