Obituary

William S. “Bill” Kulbacki, 93, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Bill was born in Hillsboro, NH as a twin in 1932 to Leopold and Agnes (Rumak) Kulbacki. After graduating from Hillsborough High School in 1949 he continued his education at the University of NH with a degree in Geology.

He began his career creating fire insurance maps throughout New England and New York. He was an educator in Antrim, NH before starting his 32 years in Hopkinton, NH teaching sciences, a job he dearly loved. He also taught at New England and Hawthorn colleges. He continued his education at Earlham, Dartmouth and Shenandoah colleges, earning MS in Education and MS in Botany from Washington State.

Bill married Alice Nina Griffen, the mother of his five children. He served his community on several boards and was active within St. Mary's church, where he became the first Extraordinary Minister of Communion in 1978. He was a most gentle, patient, kind and charitable man who thoroughly enjoyed life and the many travels with his family, often camping across the country.

In later years, he vacationed in Prince Edward Island, St. Thomas, Sanibel, FL and Canada. He was NEVER bored and always up for an adventure. After moving to Pensacola in 2000 he joined St. Michael's church and continued as an Extraordinary Minister for many years. He also volunteered for Covenant Hospice, SVDP, and became a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He stepped up to help with whatever needed to be done and never complained or said an unkind word about a soul. He was an avid reader, loved history of words, played Scrabble on a regular basis...loved all sports, especially the Boston teams, as well as the symphony and opera. He was an extraordinary human being who thoroughly enjoyed his earthly life.

He cherished his family and the many reunions during years he lived. We are all heartbroken but comforted in knowing he is with his Lord.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Nina Griffen Kulbacki; his daughters, Carol Agnes Kulbacki and Nancy Alice Kulbacki Gordon; 8 siblings, Doris, Lydia, Fred, Etta, Evelyn, Michael, Catherine and Thalia.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Daigle Kulbacki; stepdaughters, Jennifer Daigle and Julie Duncan; grandsons, Trevor and Blake; sons, Peter Kulbacki (Babben), Jesse Kulbacki, and Thomas Kulbacki; grandchildren, Amanda Dunbar (Eddy), Alec Kulbacki, Brittany Kulbacki Hall, Todd Gordon (Gabby), Spencer Kulbacki (Cheryl), Braeden and Tryder Kulbacki; great-grandsons, Chase Kulbacki Hall and Baby Elisha Dunbar, to be born on July 11; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SDVP.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brent Videau & Dr. Kevin Schopmeyer, Baptist Hospital, nurses and staff at Vitas Hospice, as well as many wonderful friends who prayed for him, Msgr. Bosso, Fr. Raymond Herard, and Fr. William from St. Ann Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze, FL.
