William Marcellus Middleton, 89, of Pensacola, FL passed away Friday, October 24, 2014. Bill was born in Brinson, GA on August 17, 1925 and spent the majority of his younger years in Blakely, GA. He served in the US Army as part of the 79th Infantry Division, where he earned the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After he graduated from the University of Georgia, he became a part of the sales division of NCR Corporation until his retirement. He and his wife, Doreen, spent their lives raising their children in Atlanta and Valdosta, GA then settled in Pensacola, FL as active members of the Masons and Eastern Star. Bill was also an active member of the Optimist Club. Bill loved nothing more than talking politics, watching baseball and NASCAR Sprint Cup racing and of course his pets along the way, especially Buster. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lois Doreen Johnson Middleton. Survivors include his sons, Paul C. Middleton, Sr. (Chris) of Jacksonville, FL and Kenneth L. Middleton (Becky) of Ormand Beach, FL; sister, Jane Hunter of Colquitt, GA; also eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Graveside Service will be held 10:15am Friday, November 7, 2014 at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul C. Middleton, Sr., Kenneth L. Middleton, Doug Middleton, Paul C. Middleton, Jr. and Kevin Middleton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your local animal shelter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of Bill's care givers, doctors, nurses and friends who kept his spirits up even during the most difficult of times.
