Mark Tarantino, 84, of Pensacola, FL, passed away at West Fla. Hospital on December 22, 2011. His wife Myra Jayne was at his bedside as he finished his battle with Alzheimers disease. Tarantino was a lifelong resident of Pensacola, apart from his military duty. Tarantino served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, and is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Upon returning to Pensacola in 1966, he worked as an auto sales associate at Pensacola Buggy Works. He retired after 33 years, achieving many honors and awards, including the Chevrolet Diamond Legion of Leaders award. His hobbies included working in the yard, dancing, fishing and playing with his grandchildren who knew him as Daddy Mark . Tarantino is preceded in death by wife, Shirley G. Tarantino (1934-2004); his mother, Ruth D. Cvitanic (1912-1988) and step-father, Steve S. Cvitanic (1915-2006). Survivors include his wife, Jayne Holling Tarantino; his adult children, Tony Tarantino of Prattville, AL, Deirdre T. Pace of Fairhope, AL, Tim Tarantino of Pensacola and Myra Whitmore of Pensacola; his sister, Gayle C. Paro, of Pensacola; as well as many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 9:30am until the funeral service to begin at 10:30am Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brent Shaw of First Baptist Church of Fairhope, AL officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, with full military honors.
