A dear brother and uncle, and a kind friend to many, William Edward Wanek, 67 passed away on October 17, 2023. Bill was born in Pensacola, Florida on October 9, 1956 to Harry and Evelyn Sack Wanek. He spent most of his life in Pensacola, though also residing in Ft Worth, Texas, Columbia, SC and San Jose, California where he was a very much appreciated special events usher for Team San Jose until returning to Florida in February, 2022. He was residing in Crestview, FL at the time of his death.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Lorio.

He is survived by his sister, Sally Beste and brother, John (Teri) of San Jose, Jim of Columbia, SC and Joe (Tootie) of Pensacola, 10 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews.

Though an accomplished bowler and very skilled at the BBQ grill and backyard smoker, his most recent activity was cultivating an extensive garden of vegetables that he was very generous in sharing with all. His sister described Bill's best quality as his willingness to help when needed and his last act of kindness was the donation of his corneas to help someone in need.

Father Patrick Foley will officiate at the internment service at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Pensacola. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life is planned for a future date.
