William Deas Weatherford, 80, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016.
William Deas Weatherford, known as "Bill" by many friends, and most affectionately as "Bo" by family, was born near Uriah, Alabama on January 11, 1936. He graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. Chemical Engineering in 1959. After graduation, he was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. During his four year tour of active duty, he was trained as a meteorologist and received a B.S. Meteorology from Penn State University in 1960. Afterwards, he was stationed at Maxwell A.F.B. in Montgomery, AL, where he met the love of his life, his wife, Catherine (Kitty) Guy. William continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve and received an Honorable Discharge as a Captain in October, 1970.
William began working with Monsanto Company in 1962, where he remained until retirement in 1992. He resided in Pensacola until his death. In the late 1960's, while serving as Senior Development Engineer, he spent a year in Frankfurt, Germany as the R&D Representative with a German Company, from which polyester tire yarn technology was purchased, and he oversaw the start-up and optimization of the State-side plant.
William is survived by two sisters, Eleanor May and Virginia Watson; two brothers, Dr. Thomas Waller Weatherford, III and Joseph D. Weatherford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Kitty) Guy Weatherford; brother, John Weatherford and parents, Agnes English Weatherford and Thomas Waller Weatherford, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2016 at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Hwy 90 E, Pensacola.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Pensacola where William and Kitty were devoted members.
